About the Organization
Senior Member is the highest grade of IEEE membership for which a candidate may directly apply. It requires significant professional maturity — typically ten or more years of professional practice with at least five years of demonstrated significant performance — and must be supported by endorsements from qualified IEEE Senior Members or Fellows. Only a small percentage of IEEE's global membership holds this grade.
